     Anthony was admitted as a Commoner at Oriel College, Oxford in 1668. He matriculated on 12 June 1668 at age 15, and presumably became 16 later that year. He graduated with a. B.A. 20 April 1672 and received a M.A. on 4 July 1674. Anthony studied medicine and practised physic but took no medical degrees at Oxford. There is no evidence that he ever obtained a medical degree although he could have taken it at one of the continental universities.²

     Anthony Lawrence [IV] was born in 1661.² Anthony was baptized on 9 August 1661 in Dowdeswell, Gloucestershire, England.² He married Mary Barrow, daughter of James Barrow and Barbara Powlett, in May 1690 in Newland, Gloucestershire, England. The Marriage Allegation was signed by Anthony in Gloucester, Saturday, 24 May 1690. The Allegation states that Anthony was of the parish of Painswick around age 26 and Mary was of the parish of Newland around age 20. Franklyn, however states that the baptismal date for Anthony in 1661 is correct so he would have been around age 29. It is practically certain that the marriage took place between 24 May and 31 May 1690 but the exact date is unknown..² Anthony died in May 1734.² He was interred in Bream Chapel in Newland Parish, Gloucestershire, England.²

     Anthony went into business as a clothier in Painswick. Since his wife was the heir to the Bream's Lodge Estate in the parish of Newland, near St. Briavel's and Lydney, Gloucestershire, he became jure uxoris of Bream's Lodge.²

     Anthony made a will on 13 January 1732. In his will he is described as of Bream's Lodge, Gloucestershire, gentleman. He gave unto his son Barrow Lawrence and unto his daughter Dulcibella, wife of Edward Harward, the sum of five pounds each, with which to buy a suit of mourning. He gave unto his kinswoman Barbara Lane, spinster, then living with him, the sum of £20. He directed his Exor. to release his said kinswoman Barbara Lane all such money that she owed him at the time of his decease for her maintenance, education or otherlike. He gave unto John Barrow of Woolastone Grange, co. Gloucs., tanner, one guinea to buy him a ring in token of his (testator's) love [possibly son of Richard and grandson of John]. Lastly he nominated and appointed his loving son Pawlet Lawrence sole Exor., and sole residuary legatee of all and singular his personal estate of what nature soever, and he made the said John Barrow his Overseer to see that his last Will and Testament was performed.²

     Anthony Lawrence [I] was born circa 1568/69.² He married Anne Gradwell, daughter of William Gradwell [Esq.] (of Gray's Inn), circa 1600.² Anthony died before 26 April 1645.² He was interred in Sevenhampton, Gloucestershire, England.²

     Anthony made a will on 7 April 1645.²

     His will was proved on 26 April 1645 in Gloucester, England.²

     Anthony apparently died intestate. On 12 October 1722, administration of his estate was given to his grandmother Barbara Barrow of Breems Lodge, widow.¹

     Arey E. Lawrence was born on 30 October 1906.¹ Arey died on 10 December 1980 in Edmonson Co., Kentucky, at age 74.¹
