     Elidyr was also known as Eleuther.

     Elidyr became king of Rheged some time in the mid sixth century. He almost certainly inherited the kingdom of Isle of Man. He married a sister of Rhun, king of Gwynedd, whose capitol was on part of the Isle of Anglesey. On the death of Maelgwyn, Elidyr believed he had a claim on Anglesey and so invaded the island in about 560. He was killed in the conflict.2

Icel was probably the first of this family of Angles to land in Britain. Creoda was probably the first of the Iclingas to establish a hold on the territory that later developed into Mercia.2
