     Chosroes married a Turkish princess. He was at war with Justinian, the Byzantine emperor in 531, 532, and 540-545. In 540 he sacked Antioch and forced Justinian to pay tribute. Chosroes was one of the greatest Persian kings, reformed imperial taxation, and restored Zoroastrianism.

     Xerxes I of Persia was born in 521 BC.2 He married Amestris of Persia, daughter of Otones of Persia. Xerxes was murdered by a captain of the guard in 465 BC.2

     Xerxes was at the battles of Thermopylae and Salamis in 480 BC and Plataea and Mykale in 479 BC. He suppressed a revolt in Egypt in 485-484 BC and carried on Darius I's task of punishing the Greeks. He bridged the Hellispont and marched through Thrace, Macedonia, and Thessaly. His army checked Leonidas at Thermopylae where he won the victory in 480 BC and burned Athens. His fleet was defeated at Salamis in 480 BC and his army beaten by the Greeks in 479 BC after he retreated to Persia.

     Yazdagerd was murdered in 651.2

     Yazdagerd was the last of the Sassanian dynasty and was too young to actually rule. The country was torn by civil war and in 633 the Arab invasion begun. The Persians were overwhelmed by the Arabs in the battle of Kadisiya in 637, and the battle of Neharend about 641. Yazdagerd fled to Media. His assention date, June 16, 632, marks the beginning of the Jalalean era and is still used in the calendar of Parsis.
