The Hardy family that settled in Virginia in the 1600s can be traced back to John de Hardy born in 1446 in Yorkshire, England. His descendant Richard Hardy with wife Alice Wilson and children immigrate to Virginia. His son John Hardy Sr. and wife Olive Council along with their son John Hardy Jr. also immigrated to Virginia. So three generations of our Hardy ancestors immigrated to Virginia. Whether or not they all immigrated together is not known. John Hardy Jr. married Alice Bennett in Isle of Wight County, Virginia, about 1657.

Lucy Hardy daughter of John Hardy Jr. and Alice Bennett married Hodges Council Jr. Their granddaughter Anne Council, daughter of Hardy Council and Susannah Fulgham, married Robert Lawrence IV thus our connection to this Hardy family. Whether Hodges Council Jr. was of the same family as Olive Council how married John Hardy Sr. is not known.

Since several branches of ancestors of this family trace back to the noble and royal families of England I have provide a 15 generation ancestral chart for Anne Council, wife of Robert Lawrence IV. See Charts.

See Charts for my descent from John de Hardy.
