Luke Stansbury

     Luke Stansbury was born on 6 March 1749/50 in Baltimore, Baltimore Co., Maryland.1 He married first Comfort Roberts on 16 May 1788 in Caswell Co., North Carolina.2 He married second Nancy Haddock on 30 January 1791 in Caswell Co., North Carolina.3,2 Luke died on 13 October 1848 in Knox Co., Tennessee, at age 98.1 He was interred in New Hopewell Baptist Cemetery in Kimberlin Heights, Knox Co., Tennessee.1
     

     Luke Stansbury enlisted from Caswell Co., NC, Jan 17, 1778, and was a private in the Revolutionary War. He served under Capt. Reading Blount and Col. Robert Nebane in the North Carolina Continental Establishement.4 During the war he engaged is several skirmishes. He was taken prisoner at the capture of Charleston, South Carolina, and held for one year. He escaped, rejoined, and was discharged.

     Information from Bill Stansbury list an Elizabeth, Polly, Andrew, and Patsy as children of Luke also. Polly it probably the same as Mary. This needs to be verified.
