     During her unhappy marriage to King Alfonso, Queen Urraca took as a lover here Alferez mayor, Count Gomez Gonzalez, who was killed fighting King Alfonso at the battle of Candespina 26 October 1111. From about 1115 the Queen maintained a liaison with here Mayordomo mayor, Count Pedro Gonzalez de Lara who died at Bayonne in 1130. There is no evidence for a pretended "secret marriage" to this Count.4
