Given the birth date of daughter Sarah J. Rose of 1837 and the marriage date of John to Malinda Walker of 12 December 1845, it would appear that Sarah is not a daughter of Malinda but may be a daughter by a first wife. John may be the John Rose in Blount County in 1840 enumerated with one female under 5 and one female 20-30 which if so would fit the theory of a first wife mothering Sarah.

John was living in Webster County, Missouri, in 1870.7

Narrative

According to Mike Rose, who provided the photo to the Rose Family Association Newsletter, and who is a direct descendant of Elisha, the cabin is in what is now Dyliss, Roane Co., Tennessee. The current owners bought the cabin from the Rose family in the early 1900s. They state that Elisha's son Maynard Wilson Rose, great grandfather of Mike Rose, was born there. The area was originally known as Kreis and according to Elisha's civil war pension file he moved there in 1870-72. The house is now used for storage and "it sits in a beautiful hollow next to a natural spring" says Mike.9
