Narrative

     The Abraham Joyner that came to Northampton Co., North Carolina, prior to the Revolutionary War was probably the son of Abraham Joyner who died in Isle of Wight Co., Virginia, in 1728. He was granted 100 acres on Kirby's Creek on Giles Joyner's land in September 1779.2

     Abraham made a will on 10 July 1792 at Northampton Co., North Carolina. It was probated in June 1793 as follows: lend wife Sarah 1/2 of all my land and 4 negroes; to son Giles Joyner negroes at my wife's death and also my lands, tenements and still; to daughter Mildred Boyt(?) the use of 1 negro and the use of my plantations and 25 acres of land and at her death the sd. property to return to John Futral my Extr; to daughter Elizabeth Futral 2 negroes; to my grandson Abreham Joyner 1 negro boy; to my grandson James Boyett 5 pounds Virginia money to school him; to my wife 1/2 of my personal property and residue to go to my four children now living; to my son-in-law William Brown 5 shillings. Executors my son Giles Joyners and son-in-law John Futral. Witnesses Mark Rogers, Mark Murrill, E. Johnson.3

     Abraham Miller was born in 1750 at Hagerstown, Frederick Co., Maryland. Now Washington Co. formed from Frederick Co. in 1776.1,2 He married Catherine Byerly, daughter of Joseph Byerly and Martha Bierer.1 He died in 1830 at home farm, Mt. Sidney, Augusta Co., Virginia.1,3 He was interred at on his farm on the Middle River at Mt. Sidney, Augusta Co., Virginia.2

Narrative

     Abraham specified in his will that his land was to be held until after the death of Catherine. It was sold 2 October 1846 to Peter Miller, son of Abraham's brother David Miller.4
