Carpenter, daughter of William Warner Carpenter and Phoebe Henton, on 11 April 1880.7 He married second Fannie M. Garber circa 1911.8 Henry died on 2 November 1938 at age 85.9 He was interred at Keezletown Cemetery at Rockingham Co., Virginia.9

Narrative

     From the Rockingham Register, 11 October 1877, page 3, provided by Deb Wake: "Henry Cox, son of Robert Cox, of this County, accidently shot himself in the hand the other day. He was after a squirrel, with his pistol in his right hand, when he stumbled causing the pistol to go off sending the ball through the left. The ball entered between the first and second fingers and came out of the back of the hand, causing a painful wound."

Narrative

     She appears on the 1870 U. S. Census in her father's household as Dolly E. On the 1880 U. S. Census she appears in her father's household as Ellen Cox with husband James Cox. In the 1900 U. S. Census she appears with her husband and children as Dartha Cox. I suspect that her name may have been Dorothy Ellen and 1870 she was being called Dolly, in 1880 Ellen, and in 1900 Dartha, probably a nickname for Dorothy.
