     Gilead Taylor was born on 4 May 1830 at South Carolina.2,3,4,5,6 She married Joseph Russell Shaffer, son of Henry Michael Shaffer and Eve Beard, on 31 March 1847 at Winter Quarters, Douglas Co., Nebraska.1 Gilead died on 24 July 1901 at Millville, Cache Co., Utah, at age 71.1

     Conflicting evidence states that Gilead Taylor was born on 4 May 1830 at Raleigh, Wake Co., North Carolina.1

     An entry in Ancestry Family Trees indicated that she was born in Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina. All of the census records indicated she was born in South Carolina.
