Narrative

     Almost all family trees place Leonidas as a son of John Sherertz and Mary Banner. This appears to be based on his appearance on the 1860 in the household of Mary Sherertz as the youngest son. York in his article titled "The Burnett Families of Knox County, Tennessee Part I -Jeremiah Burnett of Mill Shoal" published in Tennessee Ancestors, Vol. 22, No. 1, April 2006, indicates that he is the son of Wallace Sherertz another son of John and Mary above. Leonidas appears on the 1870 census in the household of Wallace and his second wife Martha and by 1880 is married to his wife Sarah Jane.
