According to conflicting evidence, she married John Raymond Pearson on 24 November 1927. According to Bill Corn in his manuscript Ellen had eloped to Franklin, Kentucky to be married. When Ellen's mother found out about it she insisted that she get married in an Episcopal Church. An article in a Nashville newspaper indicated that they married in All Saints Church in Sewanee, Tennessee. When Bill contacted the church no record of the marriage could be found.2
